Eagles vs. Commanders, Week 8, live updates: Philly takes early lead
· Yahoo Sports
LANDOVER, Md. — Greetings from the press box at Northwest Stadium, where the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday night.
The Eagles (2-5) are looking to snap a five-game losing streak and get back into the race to win the NFC East.
Visit moryak.biz for more information.
Meanwhile, Jayden Daniels and the Commanders (1-4-1) are a 5.5-point betting favorite against Tanner McKee and Co.
The Jalen Hurts-less Eagles will also be without DeVonta Smith (hamstring), Dontayvion Wicks (ankle) and Jihaad Campbell (hamstring/quad). It will once again be an uphill climb for Nick Sirianni’s team to right the ship.
But Saquon Barkley (hamstring/back) is expected to give it a go after playing hurt and logging nine touches for 71 yards and a touchdown vs. the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
We’ll see how long Barkley lasts if he plays — and if his presence gives life again to the Eagles’ offense.
And we’ll see how Jalen Carter and the Eagles’ defense responds on a short week after allowing 38 points in a rough loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.
Follow along for updates from Northwest Stadium throughout this Week 8 matchup in primetime.
FIRST QUARTER
6:10 — Eagles 3, Commanders 0
The Eagles had to settle for a 39-yard field goal by Jake Elliott, but they had a little something cooking on that drive. Tanner McKee had a nicely layered 19-yard completion to Makai Lemon followed by a 12-yard completion to Darius Cooper with the blitz in his face. The Eagles stalled out, but a couple of good signs to build on.

That drive was less interesting. Three-and-out for the Eagles and a punt. Saquon Barkley is out there at least.
12:09 — Eagles 0, Commanders 0
This game has already had a bit of everything. The Eagles allowed a 44-yard opening kickoff return; the kickoff coverage team has been brutal this year.
Washington got it down into field-goal range. Eagles safety Drew Mukuba got hurt on an offsides free play INT. Then the Commanders had two straight false starts to back them up from a third-and-1 to a third-and-11. Washington had to settle for a long field goal try, which Drew Stevens missed.
