Monster Mash: Watch Texas DL Maraad Watson scoop-and-score against Mississippi State
· Yahoo Sports
Texas football's most explosive play in the first half Saturday came from one of its heaviest players.
Longhorns nose tackle Maraad Watson rumbled into the end zone for a 61-yard touchdown after recovering a fumble late in the second quarter against Mississippi State. The 333-pound junior scooped up the ball after a sack of Bulldogs quarterback AJ Swann by Texas linebacker Rasheem Biles, and Watson was accompanied by a crew of Texas teammates as he sprinted down the right sideline and into the end zone.

Watson's scoop-and-score gave Texas a 17-0 lead at halftime. His touchdown ended a slog of a first half for the Longhorns, in which they scored a touchdown on their opening drive, then generated just three points and 44 yards on their next four possessions. Texas quarterback Arch Manning had his bloody hand wrapped on the Longhorns' sideline, and star wide receiver Cam Coleman went to the locker room and did not return due to an undisclosed injury.
