For two, previously winless Woodlawn and Natchitoches Central notched their first victories of the season. Evangel quarterback Peyton Houston, who was slated to sit out this week with a shoulder injury, played and led his Eagles to a win. North DeSoto running back/safety Hayden Bell was sidelined with a minor injury as was BTW quarterback Devion Stewart – two key players possibly missing a game or two.

Here’s a look at the Friday contests:

Woodlawn 22, Bossier 6: The Knights (1-8) took advantage of the Bearkats (2-6) being beset with injuries at the quarterback position to get the win.

“I’m so excited for the kids,” first-year coach Lavelle Wilson Jr. said. “It’s all about them and how hard they’ve been working.”

The Knights led 9-0 at the break after getting a safety and TD reception by Demarlin Harris. Connor Presley scored twice in the second half to seal the game.

Natchitoches Central 27, Haughton 14: The Chiefs (1-8) knocked the Buccaneers (8-1) from the unbeaten ranks with the win in Natchitoches. Kaden Kuykendall, Ronald Bolton, Blessed Brown and Derrick Beaudion scored for NCHS with Beaudion scoring on a 55-yard interception return.

“I’m proud for our players and coaches,” Coach Brad Laird said. “They stayed with the process, kept showing up and kept working.”

Haughton got a rushing TD by Nolan Simmons and a Taylor Weathersby to Ethan Johnson TD pass.

North DeSoto 35, BTW 20: Mason Smith completed 20 of 29 passes for 196 yards and a TD, while Steven Sims ran 26 times for 196 yards and 2 TDs for the Griffins (9-0) versus the Lions (6-3). Braylon Moore turned in 9 catches for 135 yards. The Griffins captured the District 1-4A title with the win.

Huntington 32, Benton 6: The Raiders (3-6) had an easy time with the Tigers (4-5) on the road. Jakorion Spencer scored twice on runs, while MJ Greene, Audacious Johnson and Darius Truvillion added scores.

Parkway 49, Byrd 35: Bryston McCoy passed for 306 yards and 3 TDs and Damien Dacaldacal rushed for 125 yards and two scores for the Panthers (5-4).
