Then he came back to Germany and apparently decided the entire Bundesliga owed him money.
Niclas Füllkrug is back at Werder Bremen and terrorizing defenders like he has a personal vendetta against every back line in the country.
His 2026/27 season so far:
- Bundesliga: Eight goals in seven appearances
- DFB-Pokal: Three goals in two appearances, including today’s brace
- Total: 11 goals across all competitions
- Scored in four consecutive Bundesliga matches for the first time in his career
- Rescued a point against Borussia Dortmund with a stoppage-time equalizer
- Scored a brace against Paderborn to drag Bremen back from a two-goal deficit
- Scored another brace against Mainz, with both goals coming from the penalty spot in the opening 25 minutes of a 3-2 victory
And that Mainz performance? Bremen took him off late to help protect the lead, and Füllkrug was so fired up on the sidelines that he needed a moment before greeting his teammates. The dude was still ready to fight for another 90 minutes.
What about his brace against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday? The striker came on in the 58th minute and proceeded to almost knock BVB out of the competition (if not for a late Marcel Sabitzer game-winner).
West Ham and AC Milan are somewhere watching in amazement as this man just destroys everyone in his path. Niclas, brother, we are happy you are home, but the rest of the Bundesliga has families.
