On one of the darkest days in NBA franchise history, the Oklahoma City Thunder had their championship aspirations completely destroyed in a 108-101 win over the LA Clippers on Sunday. They lost two of their four most important players and starters for most/all of the 2026-27 season.
In a somber mood, Thunder GM Sam Presti announced on Monday that Cason Wallace sustained a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will require surgery. A timeline will be clearer afterward. Brutal. Just brutal. Jalen Williams will also miss most/all of the 2026-27 season with a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle.
Wallace sustained his injury fighting over Isaiah Jackson's screen in the first quarter. He immediately darted to the locker room in serious pain and holding his shoulder. The 22-year-old was penciled in as a full-time starter and was fresh off a five-year, $139 million contract extension right before Opening Night.
Now, Wallace is sidelined for an indefinite amount of time. Wow. These two injury developments have completely changed OKC's trajectory for the rest of the 2026-27 season. The fallout will. be felt throughout the remainder of the 79-plus games they play.
