Manning had nearly 200 yards passing heading into the fourth with Raleek Brown on the board as the Longhorns’ leading rusher. Brown had 12 carries for 57 yards while Wingo led the Longhorns in receiving with six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Longhorns’ defense was the story of the first half as they put the clamps on Ole Miss Heisman contender Trinidad Chambliss. Chambliss attempted to bring his Rebels back but wasn’t especially effective with the game winding down. He had 12 completions out of 26 attempts for 91 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions as Pete Golding’s team struggled to keep pace with the high-powered Arch Manning-led offensive attack in Austin.

The Longhorns looked likely to secure the win, but there was still plenty of game left to go as fans continued to watch in Texas.
