Titans do just enough, pull out nail-biting 26-20 win over Colts
· Yahoo Sports
The Tennessee Titans played hard and, in the end, got the ball bouncing their way for a nail-biting 26-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.
The Titans' offense was at the heart of the frustration and, once again, couldn't get going in the first half, running only 20 plays and being completely dominated by the Colts' defense. The Titans lack an identity, and their conservative, run-heavy first-half approach only gave Indianapolis field position and time of possession.

They played better in the second half, but it was still a rough outing for Cam Ward and his offense. Ward did connect with Carnell Tate for his first NFL touchdown, but it was still inconsistent, with missed opportunities,
The Titans' defense did its job, forcing multiple turnovers, keeping the Colts' offense in check, and, most importantly, making plays when needed. Jeffery Simmons led the way with six total tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, but the unit got solid performances from many players and closed out the Colts for the Titans' first win of 2026.
It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but the Titans did just enough to capitalize and end their AFC South losing streak.

- First half lull: The Titans offense was inept in every phase and couldn't get anything going in the air or on the ground. Brian Daboll's offense was again overly conservative and predictable, failed to capitalize on the momentum the defense gave it, and went into halftime down 13-0. This has plagued the Titans all season, and must be addressed.
- Defense: The Titans' defense forced three turnovers, which completely shifted the game's momentum and gave Tennessee's offense a chance to come alive and pull out a win. On top of the three turnovers, the defensive front, led by Jeffery Simmons, recorded six sacks and harassed Daniel Jones all afternoon.
- Special teams set the tone: The Titans started the second half with a big kickoff-coverage play that jump-started the comeback. Add a huge punt return by Chimere Dike and a blocked punt recovered by Femi Oladejo for a touchdown, and they played a massive role in the victory.
It was over when...
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones attempted a last-second Hail Mary, and the ball fell incomplete when the clock hit all zeroes.
Players of the Game
- S Amani Hooker: Hooker was everywhere in the first half and kept the Titans' defense afloat as the offense struggled. He also made a crucial first-half interception that ended a drive. Hooker finished the game leading Tennessee with 13 tackles (seven solo) and the interception.
- DT Jeffery Simmons: Simmons was not only the emotional leader, but he also helped spark the win with six total tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery that set up Cam Ward and the offense for their first points of the game.
- K Joey Slye: Slye was clutch, making all his kicks, including both fourth-quarter attempts that proved to be the difference in the game.
- WR Carnell Tate: Tate led the Titans' receivers in targets and receptions, pulling in six balls for 70 yards and his first NFL touchdown.
Injuries
Tennessee did not suffer any notable injuries. There were some bumps and bruises, but all of the players that started, finished the game.
