Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that McConkey is not expected to play against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. The Chargers wide receiver missed practice throughout the week because of a foot injury.

The update comes after Los Angeles listed McConkey as questionable on its final injury report.

McConkey has recorded 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown through four games this season. He caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown in the season opener against the Arizona Cardinals before recording 101 receiving yards across the next two games.

Chargers face another challenge against Denver

McConkey’s potential absence would add to the Chargers’ injury concerns ahead of their divisional matchup. The team has already ruled wide receiver Quentin Johnston out with a chest injury, leaving its receiving group short of options.

The Chargers will need other receivers to help quarterback Justin Herbert if McConkey cannot play.
