Candace Parker was sitting at the announcer’s desk when Caitlin Clark took a shot at her after making a clutch three-pointer.
Parker had been critical of Clark’s effort on the defensive end of the court, believing that the former University of Iowa standout needed to be more energetic on that front.

Later in the game, Clark would make a three-pointer and take a dig at Parker as she ran past her to get back on the defensive end.
Candace Parker says Caitlin Clark’s trash-talk reminded her of Stephen Curry
Speaking on her podcast, former WNBA star-turned-commentator Candace Parker revealed her reaction to Caitlin Clark taking a jab at her during Game 2 of the Indiana Fever’s series against the Las Vegas Aces.
While Parker was confused as to why Clark was targeting her, she actually enjoyed that competitive spirit, likening it to Stephen Curry confronting Reggie Miller in years past.
Parker said: “Another part of the game I was confused about, which I really liked because I remember even now watching players in the NBA and sitting next to some legends – I remember Stephen Curry, when he knocked down a shot, came down, and Reggie Miller was calling the game. He came over and it was like, ‘You know that’s what I do!’ – That type of thing.
“It was cool, but I was just minding my business at the scorer’s table, and Caitlin Clark just hit a big three and said, ‘What you thought this was?’ I just was like, ‘Yeah, great shot. I’m just sitting here minding my own business.’
“I loved it, and it seems like there are certain players that get riled up and love the chaos. I was one of those players who was like, ‘Please talk mess to me, please point in my face, please do things to get me angry. I just love this. I love the passionate stuff.”
Clark is one of the fiercest competitors in the WNBA, and never backs down from a challenge, and also engages in trash talk very frequently.
While some of her rivals in the WNBA might not appreciate it, Candace Parker admires the fire Clark showed in that moment.
