The Milwaukee Bucks pulled off a thrilling 128-126 preseason victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, and rookie guard Brayden Burries stood right at the center of the drama. Selected 10th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft out of the University of Arizona, Burries showed exactly why the franchise holds such high hopes for his future.
In 21 minutes off the bench, Burries delivered a versatile stat line of 16 points, five rebounds, one assist, and two steals. While his perimeter shot struggled to find a rhythm early, the rookie guard shifted gears in the second half. He went 3-for-6 from the field after halftime, continually putting pressure on the defense by driving into the paint and drawing contact.
Burries saved his best work for crunch time, pouring in 10 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. He repeatedly earned trips to the charity stripe, sinking 6-of-8 free throws and hitting key shots down the stretch to help seal the win.

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Taylor Jenkins praised the rookie’s composure during his postgame comments.
“Yeah, I mean, I think he’s just shown a knack,” Jenkins said. “In the brief time that we’ve been with him, he kind of relishes those moments. I don’t think he gets sped up. He’s finding his endurance, he’s finding the energy store that he’s got to have, especially in those fourth-quarter moments. It’s really encouraging for a young guard to kind of play with that poise and to be able to face a lot of different coverages and still be able to beat it and then make the correct play more often than not. For a young guard, Brayden did a really good job tonight.”
