Robert Griffin III has been praising the development of Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young recently.
Young was the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, but he perhaps did not reach the heights many expected during the beginning of his professional career.

However, Griffin has now pointed out how much the Panthers star has improved, and said a lot of people owe Young an apology.
A lot of people ‘owe Bryce Young an apology’
In a clip shared via his X/Twitter, Griffin said people had ‘buried’ the quarterback, but he was quick to point out that ‘development is never in a straight line’.
He stated: “I mean, some of y’all owe Bryce Young an apology. Actually, a lot of y’all owe Bryce Young an apology.
“Because we’ve become so impatient with quarterbacks that if they don’t become Patrick Mahomes by Thanksgiving of their rookie season, we call them b***.
“Bryce Young’s rookie year, not going to lie, was pretty bad. I’m not rewriting history. He threw 11 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, averaged 5.5 yards per attempt, took 62 sacks, and finished with a 73.7 passer rating. OK, people, that’s terrible.
“But you guys buried him. ‘Too small, can’t see, not enough arm strength, Carolina picked the wrong guy’.
“But development is never in a straight line. Have you seen what has happened since? Let me tell you.
“His passer rating jumped from 73.7 his rookie year to 100 this year. His yards per attempt jumped from 5.5 his rookie year to 7.8 per attempt this year. Bryce Young leads the NFL in passing yards, he’s tied for third in passing touchdowns. That’s called development.”
Young and the rest of the Panthers team are currently top of the NFC South with a 2-2 record.
They most recently beat the Detroit Lions, seeing their QB complete 29 of 41 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns.
The Panthers are now due to return to action on October 18 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
