NFL Takes Notice of Patrick Mahomes’ Gesture Toward Kenneth Walker III, Chiefs Teammates

· Yahoo Sports

The NFL took notice of Patrick Mahomes’ gesture toward Kenneth Walker III during the Kansas City Chiefs’ dramatic victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Mahomes showed confidence in his teammate after a missed two-point opportunity before making sure the running back got another chance to find the end zone.

The moment came after Kansas City failed to convert a two-point attempt following a touchdown. Mahomes targeted Walker on the play, but the pass fell incomplete with the running back five yards from the end zone, leaving the team with a four-point advantage and the Raiders still within striking distance.

Rather than dwell on the missed opportunity, Mahomes immediately reassured Walker that they would get another chance to connect for a touchdown. The quarterback explained afterward that the play developed too quickly and that he wanted to give the other players enough time to clear out before delivering the ball to his running back.

That confidence proved significant later in the game when the Chiefs needed another big play. With Kansas City holding a four-point lead, Walker broke through for his second touchdown of the contest with 3:04 remaining in the fourth quarter, giving the Chiefs a critical score in a game that remained within reach for Las Vegas.

The touchdown also highlighted the growing chemistry between the quarterback and his new offensive weapon. After the score, Mahomes immediately celebrated with his teammates and acknowledged the execution of the play, emphasizing the collective effort that helped Kansas City escape with the victory. Walker’s late production ultimately played a decisive role in ending the Raiders’ unbeaten start.

Kansas City’s 30-27 victory showed how important trust can be during tight games, particularly when a missed opportunity could easily affect a player’s confidence. Instead, the Chiefs maintained their composure, created another opportunity and relied on their emerging running game to deliver when the pressure was at its highest.
