New York Yankees star Aaron Judge surprisingly was not announced during pregame introductions before Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series. The Yankees still managed to earn a 9-0 win against the Boston Red Sox despite Judge’s injury absence, as he is recovering from a calf issue. However, fans and media have been wondering why Judge wasn’t included in pregame introductions. While he is not on the active roster for the AL Wild Card Series, other players who also aren’t on the active roster were still announced.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed why Judge was not introduced on Wednesday, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“Aaron Judge missed the pregame intros because he was receiving treatment, Aaron Boone said. Judge is in Somerset today taking live at-bats,” Hoch reported.

The confusing moment led to uncertainty at the time, but it seems as if Judge was simply receiving treatment.

The Yankees are hoping to have Judge available for the next round of the postseason should they clinch a series win over the Red Sox. They still have work to do, though. New York leads the series 1-0 at the moment, but this Red Sox ball club will not go out quietly. They have been resilient all season long.

Updates on Aaron Judge’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Red Sox and Yankees are set to go head-to-head on Wednesday night at 8 PM ET as New York looks to win the series and advance to the ALDS.
