UK fugitive Ndodana Tshuma extradition delayed again

British authorities will have to wait longer to extradite UK fugitive Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma after his South African court matter hit another delay.

The 45-year-old appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 30 September, where the State confirmed that it had not yet finalised a plea and sentence agreement with the defence.
Prosecutor Davis Mabunda told the court that both sides needed more time to conclude the Section 105 agreement.
Plea deal not finalised
Tshuma has already pleaded guilty to firearm and immigration-related charges in South Africa.
The charges include the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as contravening the Immigration Act.
Police arrested him in Kensington, Johannesburg, in July after he arrived in South Africa from the UK.
The court had planned to deal with the plea agreement on Wednesday, but ongoing negotiations prevented the matter from moving forward.
Magistrate Sindisiwe Malindi postponed the case to 21 October 2026.
UK wants Tshuma back to face murder charges
British authorities want Tshuma extradited to the UK to face three murder charges.
Prosecutors there accuse him of killing his wife and their two daughters at the family home in July before he travelled to South Africa.
The UK has already submitted a formal extradition request, together with supporting documents and a warrant linked to the murder case.
The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court previously raised concerns about discrepancies between Tshuma’s guilty plea, the written agreement and parts of the Criminal Procedure Act.
Those issues still need to be sorted out.
Extradition matter returns to court
The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court will hear Tshuma’s extradition matter again on Thursday, 1 October.
His lawyer, Chrispen Machingura, has previously said the defence wants the South African matter wrapped up so Tshuma can return to the UK and answer to the murder charges.
Tshuma remains in custody.
He has not yet pleaded to the murder charges in the UK.
