NCCS pulls away for soccer win over NAC; Keene's Martin hits 100 points for his varsity career

CHAMPLAIN — Northeastern Clinton broke open a close game with three goals in the final nine minutes of play on Tuesday night for a 5-1 victory over Northern Adirondack in Northern Soccer League non-division play.

The contest was tied, 1-all, at the half with Tyller Bourgeois scoring for the Cougars and Luke Moore for the Bobcats.

NCCS took the lead for good on Seth Rabideau’s goal early in the second half and then pulled away in the late going on goals by Evi Carpenter, Bourgeois and Cobe Lafountain.

NCCS finished with a 17-9 advantage in shots on goal with Mason Favreau in net for the win with eight saves. Jake Manor stopped 12 shots for NAC.

“I thought we played well as a unit and it showed having four different goal scorers tonight,” NCCS coach Craig Botten said. “I was proud of our boys for trusting the process after going into halftime 1-1 against a tough NAC squad.

“We didn’t panic. Luke Moore scored a good one to level the score at 1-all and I thought our guys responded well.”

KEENE — Wyatt Martin scored two goals, his second being the 100th-point of his varsity career, in the Beavers’ NSL Division III win.

Jayden Vigo, Triston Scovell, Micah French, Teddy Rudow, Juan Rodriguez and Oakley Spierer also tallied for Keene.

The Beavers scored four goals in each half and held Wells without a shot on goal in the contest.

BEEKMANTOWN — The Eagles finished with a 24-3 advantage in shots on goal against the Knights in their NSL non-division game.

But Seton Catholic held Beekmantown off the scoreboard until Phoenix Kelley and Jayden Bojo scored goals within the first 14 minutes of the second half for the Eagles to provide the margin of difference.

The shutout in net went to Tyler Sand who made three saves. Michael Riccardelli was busy in the Seton Catholic net with 16 stops.

The shutout in net went to Matt Trombley who made three saves.

PHS held the Griffins without a shot on goal and finished with a 25-0 advantage in shots.

Allen Cahill stopped eight shots for the hosts.

Skyler Sumner recorded 16 saves in the Panthers’ one-goal victory and Cahill had 17 stops for Willsboro/AuSable Valley.
