SEC quarterback power rankings: Which rank top 10 entering Week 5?

After another poor performance in Week 4 in an embarrassing 35-6 loss to the No. 10 LSU Tigers, Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed has plummeted from our SEC quarterback power rankings.

Reed's lackluster performance featured him throwing for just over 100 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception on Saturday. Texas A&M's offense, led by Reed, produced under 200 total yards of offense for the first time since Appalachian State upset the Aggies in 2022.
Mississippi still boasts the top two quarterbacks in the SEC, with Mississippi State's Kamario Taylor and Ole Miss signal-caller Trinidad Chambliss leading the way.
Here are the 10 best quarterbacks in the SEC entering Week 5:
10. Kenny Minchey - Kentucky
2026 stats: 68.3% COMP | 876 PASS YDS | 8 TD | 1 INT
Tale of the tape: The Notre Dame transfer is gaining more confidence each week. Will Stein's offensive system complements Minchey's abilities as a quarterback, making Kentucky's transition into this new era smooth. Minchey isn't a prolific passer, but he is deadly accurate. He has another opportunity to move up this list with a road trip to South Carolina coming up on Saturday.
9. Faizon Brandon - Tennessee
2026 stats: 62.4% COMP | 697 PASS YDS | 7 TD | 49 CAR | 139 RUSH YDS | 3 TD
Tale of the tape: Outside of a rocky performance against No. 1 Texas, much of which was the result of poor offensive line play, the true freshman has played outstanding for the Volunteers in 2026. Brandon will continue to improve with experience in Josh Heupel's offense. He will face another talented defense at Neyland Stadium in Week 5 when the Auburn Tigers roll into Knoxville.
8. Sam Leavitt - LSU
2026 stats: 63.8% COMP | 1,044 PASS YDS | 5 TD | 6 INT | 45 CAR | 220 RUSH YDS | 6 TD
Tale of the tape: Sam Leavitt has been great at times, but continues to battle injuries that are halting his true potential under Lane Kiffin. The Arizona State transfer has a tendency to try and make big plays with his feet when he doesn't need to. He leads the conference with six interceptions, but also ranks fourth in total passing yards. Leavitt needs to use this non-conference game against McNeese to avoid further injury, especially as the Tigers prepare to travel to Kroger Field to face the Wildcats in Week 6.
7. Arch Manning - Texas
2026 stats: 63.5% COMP | 862 PASS YDS | 7 TD | 3 INT | 32 CAR | 82 RUSH YDS
Tale of the tape: Say what you want about his inconsistent play at times throughout the first few weeks, but Arch Manning has been impeccable when the lights have been the brightest so far this season. Manning has knocked off No. 1 Ohio State and No. 14 Tennessee. However, he still has much work to do as a passer. He takes a lot of unnecessary hits and can be wildly inaccurate at times. Entering the gauntlet of SEC play with games against Mississippi State, Florida, Ole Miss and LSU still on the docket, Manning must improve his consistency.
6. Aaron Philo - Florida
2026 stats: 72.4% COMP | 917 PASS YDS | 7 TD | 2 INT | 24 CAR | 69 RUSH YDS | 3 TD
Tale of the tape: Aaron Philo ranks just behind Gunner Stockton for the highest completion percentage in the SEC through the first four weeks of the 2026 season. The Gators gunslinger has been one of the most underrated athletes at the position and continues to exceed expectations, leading the Florida offense to a massive 52-28 win over No. 4 Ole Miss in Week 4. Philo and running back Jadan Baugh have formed a two-headed monster in the Swamp.
5. Austin Simmons - Missouri
2026 stats: 65.4% COMP | 947 PASS YDS | 11 TD
Tale of the tape: When it comes to underrated quarterbacks, Austin Simmons could be at the top of that list. Simmons carved up Mississippi State's secondary for 295 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-24 road loss to the Bulldogs. The Ole Miss transfer has made Missouri's offense dangerous, even with the absence of star running back Ahmad Hardy. The Tigers have a true gunslinger at the helm, who will inevitably lead his team to multiple conference wins in 2026.
4. Gunner Stockton - Georgia
2026 stats: 74.3% COMP | 754 PASS YDS | 10 TD | 1 INT | 13 CAR | 100 RUSH YDS
Tale of the tape: It's difficult to argue there is a more accurate passer in the SEC this season. Gunner Stockton has been excellent for the Bulldogs, ranking first in the conference in completion percentage and third in passing touchdowns. He has sneakily flown under the radar with much of the hype revolving around others on this list.
3. Keelon Russell - Alabama
2026 stats: 70.9% COMP | 1,129 PASS YDS | 8 TD | 2 INT | 32 CAR | 168 YDS | 3 TD
Tale of the tape: After throwing for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a dominant win over South Carolina in Week 4, Alabama's gunslinger has skyrocketed up the quarterback power rankings. Keelon Russell has one of the most talented arms in the country and continues to improve with experience. It looks like Russell and the Alabama offense have things figured out, setting up for what should be an electric showdown againt Kamario Taylor and Mississippi State on Saturday.
2. Trinidad Chambliss - Ole Miss
2026 stats: 70.8% COMP | 1,222 PASS YDS | 8 TD | 3 INT | 28 CAR | 108 RUSH YDS | 4 TD
Tale of the tape: Trinidad Chambliss is a magician. The plays he is able to create with his speed and outstanding arm are of another realm. The one issue that arose in the Rebels' loss to the Florida Gators was the absence of Kewan Lacy in the backfield with Chambliss. If he isn't superman, Ole Miss will struggle, which puts much pressure on the sixth-year quarterback to perform at his best week in and week out.
1. Kamario Taylor - Mississippi State
2026 stats: 69.2% COMP | 1,192 PASS YDS | 14 TD | 2 INT | 37 CAR | 185 RUSH YDS | 1 TD
Tale of the tape: He's dubbed "Super Kamario" for a reason. The sophomore Mississippi State gunslinger is one of the most talented overall athletes in college football. His ability to stretch the field, accuracy as a passer and threat as a runner make him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the nation. In what could be argued as his B-performance against Missouri, Taylor still threw for 360 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. We will know more about where Taylor stands in the Heisman race when the Bulldogs lines up against a physical Alabama defense on Saturday.
