We asked you to help pick the best high school cheerleading squad in Rhode Island and wow, did you answer. Just over 20,000 votes were cast in our initial poll, so now we're on to the bracket-style competition. As we explained on Sept. 15, we listed 42 high school football cheer squads and asked you to vote for your favorite. Now we're taking the top 32 vote-getters and creating an NCAA March Madness style bracket.
In true March Madness style, the No. 1 seed will face the No. 32 seed, the No. 2 seed will face the No. 31 seed and so on. These polls – all listed below – will remain open through Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11:59 p.m. and the Sweet 16 round will open next Monday, Oct. 5, with the top 16 teams facing off.
And just like last time, there's no limit as to how many times you can vote, so feel free to recruit your friends, classmates, relatives and anyone else with access to providencejournal.com. But remember, you can only vote in this online poll. No emails or phone calls will be accepted.
What does the winner get?
The champion will receive a gift certificate to Francesco's Pizzeria in Providence to help celebrate their win with a pizza party. Of course, the winners will also get the valuable gift of bragging rights, too!
