These are the times that UCLA Bruin fans dreamed of. UCLA went on the road and braved the wind and rain, picking up a 54-3 win over the Maryland Terrapins in dominant fashion. UCLA is 4-0 entering in their bye and will have a chance to rest up before a potential statement game against Oregon in Week 6.

The Oregon game will have a different feel
UCLA hasn’t had a cupcake schedule by any means but the game against Oregon will be the first game of the year where the Bruins are underdogs. The Ducks haven’t had a great start to the season but they’re still a program that’s viewed in the upper-tier of the Big Ten Conference.
Oregon hasn't been perfect to begin the season
No. 20 Oregon has their own battle on Saturday, with the Ducks heading to Los Angeles to face No. 12 USC. The Ducks held off Boise State in their season-opener but have already lost to Oklahoma State this season.
UCLA has been a machine in their first four games
The Bruins appear ready for the battle, dominating opponents on the ground all season long while the UCLA defense has forced 11 turnovers through the first four games of the year. The Bruins will hope to continue that against former Bruin, Dante Moore.
Oregon is at a different place of program development
UCLA is unlikely to find the same success in the trenches against a built-up Oregon program but it’ll be a good measuring stick for the Bruins’ program, who are 4-0 for the first time since 2022. UCLA is still a program on the rise but the game against the Ducks will show us just how close the Bruins are.
But what if they win?
A potential upset over Oregon would almost ensure a Top-25 ranking for the Bruins. If UCLA can somehow pass Chesney’s first real test with the Bruins then the 2026 season will almost certainly be considered a success. To enhance the drama, Oregon is also the team that ended Chesney’s tenure with James Madison in last year’s College Football Playoffs.
