DFS - Fantasy Domination - Week 3

Two weeks are in the books, and the sites have finally corrected early-season pricing anomalies. Unfortunately, this means some of our favorite early value plays are no longer values. That means we have to find new values. We need to take advantage of injuries. We need to find cost-savings at other spots in our builds. At least we can still save some money at quarterback and tight end. Welcome to my lineups: Kirk Cousins and Darren Waller.

Quarterback

Weekly Strategy - This week it is Josh Allen or nothing at quarterback. Of course, I am kidding, but still paying up for Allen hamstrings you elsewhere. That said, I dare you to ignore him considering the absolute tear he is on. If you want to save a little money, use Brock Purdy, Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes. They all have great matchups, but realistically, if you are going to pivot from Allen, why not just bottom-feed? I love Kirk Cousins and Geno Smith this week, and considering their ridiculously low prices, I could even see high ownership for Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston. With these five highlighting my lineups, I may have to make a Vine of me doing the Harlem Shake, planking or taking the ice bucket challenge. Now excuse me because I am busy hunting a Charizard on Pokémon Go.

Fantasy four-pack

Josh Allen ($8,000 DK, $9,100 FD), Bills (vs. LAC) Nine touchdowns through two games, and one of those games was against Houston. We knew his price was going up, but wow, that was even more than I expected. Still, Allen gets one more cakewalk game before entering a string of tougher foes. The Chargers just allowed the aging remains of Kirk Cousins to throw for three touchdowns despite his best receiving weapon missing the game. Allen may be without his top wide receiver, DJ Moore (shoulder), but the loss of his top receiver didn't hinder him in Week 2. Be ready to stack Allen and Dalton Kincaid in lineups where you go small ball at running back.

Jared Goff ($6,300 DK, $7,900 FD), Lions (vs. NYJ) Goff has six touchdowns through the first two weeks, and it still feels like he has some meat left on the bone. He will need to keep pushing the envelope through the air, because his defense has more holes than a colander. The Jets' pass defense has been ok so far, but Tucker Kraft and Christian Watson are the best talents they have faced. Detroit has two wide receivers better than Watson and a tight end that is comparable to Kraft. I love a three-legged stack of Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, running it back with Garrett Wilson.

Brock Purdy ($6,500 DK, $8,200 FD), 49ers (vs. ARI) The 49ers are a true M.A.S.H. unit. That said, they keep finding additional options to plug the lifeboat. This week, the team added Brandin Cooks, who frankly has not been fantasy relevant since 2023. So, of course, we can assume he will catch six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown here, become a hot Week 4 free agent add, and then get hurt in the opening seconds of their Week 4 game. Purdy has multiple total touchdowns in four of his five meetings with Arizona, and he has three or more total touchdowns in five of his last six regular season games. Mike Evans (hip) may see some load management this week, so expect the scores to be spread around to George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey and Cooks if he suits up. This makes Purdy a better naked play, perhaps with the correlated Trey McBride runback.

Patrick Mahomes ($6,200 DK, $8,100 FD), Chiefs (@ MIA) Last week, Mahomes looked like his old self. The rest of the league is shaking in their Reeboks and Nikes at this thought. The Dolphins will shake in their Payless knockoffs. There is a legitimate chance that the Chiefs' first-team offense only plays three quarters this week, which could mute Mahomes' overall line, but 250-2 should be his floor during his abbreviated game time. I will be heavily invested in Kenneth Walker III in this contest, but Mahomes could be the pivot against Walker's presumed high ownership.

Sleepers

Kirk Cousins ($4,800 DK, $6,800 FD), Raiders (@ NO). Cousins has posted back-to-back three-touchdown games despite not having his best offensive weapon on the field. Brock Bowers (knee) was expected back this week, but he skipped part of Friday’s practice. I still feel he will play, but I believe the team will ease him back into the game flow. Plus, neither site gave us a deep discount on the returning Bowers, so I will probably fade him and stack Cousins with Tre Tucker against a defense that has allowed the first two WR1s they have faced to average over 25 PPR points per game.

Jameis Winston ($4,000 DK, $6,400 FD), Giants (vs. TEN) As the cheapest quarterback on both sites, Winston will certainly see a modicum of ownership. He has a history of fantasy relevance (and of throwing ugly interceptions). Still, he has some legit weapons to work with. This game will probably end up being lower-scoring, but 225-2 at this price may be just enough to max out the credit card at other positions.

Running Back

Weekly Strategy - There are four elite plays this week at running back. Derrick Henry is the strongest option, and he has zero concerns this week. Kenneth Walker III has perhaps the easiest matchup on the board, but he may only play three quarters. Christian McCaffrey also has a great matchup, but San Fran seems intent on limiting his touches early this season. Finally, Jahmyr Gibbs is Jahmyr Gibbs. His matchup is appealing, but his price is almost as high as gas is right now. I'm targeting two of this foursome, but you need at least one of them. The RB2 pivots would be David Montgomery, Chuba Hubbard and TreVeyon Henderson. If Jadarian Price (shoulder) misses this game, Emanuel Wilson will be a cheat code.

Fantasy four-pack

Derrick Henry ($7,700 DK, $9,000 FD), Ravens (@ DAL) Henry didn't repeat his Week 1 performance, but he did score again, giving him touchdowns in four of his last five games and 11 of his last 19. Dallas is allowing a league-third-worst 34.5 rushing attempts per game. Some of those will go to Lamar Jackson, but most will go to Henry. Since 2024, Henry has had 17 games where he has run the ball at least 20 times. In those contests, he is averaging 131 rushing yards and 1.4 rushing touchdowns.

Kenneth Walker III ($7,400 DK, $8,300 FD), Chiefs (@ MIA) Through the first two weeks, Miami has been gouged by two elite-level running backs for 55.3 total PPR points. It won't get any easier here, as Walker has posted 57.9 PPR points on his own. We will see more Emmett Johnson this week because the Chiefs will have a huge lead at halftime, but Walker should still top 20 total points before taking a much-deserved rest.

Jahmyr Gibbs ($8,800 DK, $9,200 FD), Lions (vs. NYJ) The Jets have allowed opposing running backs only 142 total yards. Of course, that came against the sleds carrying the rock for Green Bay and Tennessee. Gibbs has more than double that total yardage in the same two games, and he has chipped in three total touchdowns. He also has 11 receptions, which is nearly double the total that Green Bay and the Titans' backs had combined. The Jets have enough pieces on offense, and the Detroit defense is horrible enough, that this game should remain close and high-scoring. Considering the immense price, I feel better using Goff and the receivers this week, but Gibbs should reach 20 PPR points with little difficulty.

Christian McCaffrey ($8,300 DK, $8,900 FD), 49ers (vs. ARI) Another week, another injury to a San Francisco pass catcher. This time it is Demarcus Robinson (ankle) heading to the IR. In addition, Mike Evans (hip) will see his workload managed because of an injury he suffered last week. At this point, McCaffrey and the Niners appear to be channelling the Fresh Prince empty house meme. Kaelon Black has siphoned some of CMC's carries, but McCaffrey has led the Niners in targets each of the first two weeks. This will continue here against a Cardinals' defense that hasn't faced a tough opposing back this season, but that has allowed an average of 141 total yards and 13 total touchdowns in nine career showdowns with McCaffrey.

Sleepers

TreVeyon Henderson ($5,200 DK, $6,500 FD), Patriots (@ JAX) Henderson returned in Week 2 and immediately lapped Rhamondre Stevenson, out-touching him 16-7. Stevenson also coughed up the ball again, a problem that he has dealt with for the last few years. Continued fumbles may eventually cost Stevenson his remaining value in the passing game. For now, they will continue to split touches, but Henderson appears to be the primary rusher, with the ability to score from anywhere on the field. This game may fly under the radar, but I like the potential for points here.

Chuba Hubbard ($6,100 DK, $6,700 FD), Panthers (@CLE)Jonathan Brooks (abdomen) is back in his usual spot on the IR, leaving this backfield exclusively to Hubbard. Frankly, Stevie Wonder could've seen that one coming. Cleveland should be ready for this archetype since it just faced a facsimile of this situation in Bucky Irving. Only eight teams are allowing more YPC than Cleveland. In a game it should be playing with a lead, Carolina should feed Hubbard the rock a ton in the second half. I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes with 120 total yards and at least one touchdown.

Wide Receiver

Weekly Strategy - Jaxon Smith-Njigba is in another galaxy right now. Dare I say that he is even more effective with Drew Lock under center. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Chris Olave and CeeDee Lamb are the top alternatives at WR1. If you go cheap up top, consider pivoting to Garrett Wilson. For WR2, I am targeting Jalen Coker (ankle), Tre Tucker, Stefon Diggs and Khalil Shakir if DJ Moore (shoulder) is out. At WR3, I am going back to the well with Devaughn Vele. He remains a strong volume option with Jordyn Tyson (IR - hamstring) out. I will also consider Denzel Boston, Malik Washington, Adonai Mitchell (finger) and Wan'Dale Robinson in a revenge game. Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman (ankle) would also have value if Moore is out.

Fantasy four-pack.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($8,600 DK, $9,200 FD), Seahawks (@ WAS) It doesn't matter who is under center for Seattle, as both Sam Darnold (glute) and Drew Lock have fed JSN. Since last season started, he has 16 games with more than 18 PPR points, and 15 of those have more than 20 PPR points. His price is getting absurd, and using him on FD is tricky, but I am excited to play him on DK, even naked. Washington just got eviscerated by CeeDee Lamb, and they opened the week with 11 defenders on their injury report.

Amon-Ra St. Brown ($7,900 DK, $9,000 FD), Lions (vs. NYJ) St. Brown has a more appealing DK price, but his FD price is one level below fingernails on a chalkboard. Did FD forget that they only award .5 PPR? The Jets have looked better than expected on defense, but even I could look solid against an injury-riddled Packers team and a talentless Titans roster. Last season, Detroit was the top-scoring team at home. The Lions kept that pace going in their first home contest of this season, posting 31 points against the Saints in Week 1. This will need to continue because their defense is allowing 35.5 points per game (the league's second-worst mark). I love building a game stack featuring Geno Smith, St. Brown, Garrett Wilson and Sam LaPorta.

Chris Olave ($7,200 DK, $8,100 FD), Saints (vs. LV) Vegas isn't giving this game the props it deserves. The line on Thursday was sitting at 44 or less on every major site. I don't get it. Both Kirk Cousins and Tyler Shough have looked strong this season, and Cousins is (likely) getting back his best offensive weapon. For those who enjoy betting on that sort of thing, hammer the over. Despite a rough matchup where Baltimore went out of its way to shut down Olave, he still posted 22.6 PPR points. At more than $1k less than JSN, Olave is a studly play that may see lesser ownership with Vegas sandbagging the game.

CeeDee Lamb ($7,800 DK, $8,600 FD), Cowboys (vs. BAL) Speaking of Baltimore trying to shut down a No. 1 wide receiver, it won't be any easier this week, because Dallas has two elite receivers to hold in check. In Week 2, Lamb went off against a soft Washington defense, but this matchup will be tougher. Still, he has been the clear alpha over the first two games. I won't go anywhere near him on FD, but a game stack with Dak Prescott and Derrick Henry could be juicy in the game with the highest implied point total.

Sleeper

Denzel Boston ($4,500 DK, $5,600 FD), Browns (vs. CAR) Two weeks, two touchdowns. Plus, these scores have come from long distances, so the yardage is adding up rapidly. For those who can remember the pre-COVID days, you may recall Deshaun Watson turning Will Fuller V into a fantasy-relevant player on the back of repeated long-distance touchdowns. Apparently, all of Watson's time off did not eliminate his ability to heave the deep ball. With K.C. Concepcion (and hopefully eventually Harold Fannin Jr. as well) keeping defenses honest underneath, Watson to Boston could become a regular scene. Carolina already allowed a 50+ yard touchdown in Week 1. In 2025, it gave up seven scores of more than 30 yards. I love Bryce Young this week, so building a stack withJalen Coker, Darren Waller and then running it back with Boston looks like a win.

Adonai Mitchell ($4,300 DK, $5,400 FD), Jets (@ DET) Mitchell popped up on the mid-week injury report with a finger issue, so make sure that he is ready to go before rolling him out. This matchup will be high-scoring, and Mitchell has separated himself as the clear No. 2 in New York. Detroit's secondary is in shambles, and it may end up playing players off the street for significant minutes this week. Obviously, people will smash the Lions' offensive skill position players in this game, but differentiate yourself by targeting the weapons on the Jets, including Mitchell, Wilson and Kenyon Sadiq.

Tight End

Weekly strategy –Brock Bowers (knee) is expected to return this week after his knee surgery. I imagine the Raiders will ease him in, so despite the positive matchup (and my playing Cousins), I will probably fade him. That said, I would not discourage throwing a couple of Cousins-Bowers-Tucker lineups out there. Trey McBride's salary is finally where it belongs, making him hard to squeeze in under the cap. It's a shame because the matchup is reasonable. Dalton Kincaid, Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Sam LaPorta are all great options at a much lower cost. Dalton Schultz, Juwan Johnson, and Hunter Henry all continue to have value at a discount price because of injuries to the teams' wide receiver corps. Schultz saw a boost in salary this week, but Johnson and Henry remain steals. My favorite punt options are Oronde Gadsden Jr., Pat Freiermuth and Darren Waller.

Fantasy four-pack

Trey McBride ($6,700 DK, $7,300 FD), Cardinals (@ SF) Going into this season, I was concerned that the departure of Drew Petzing would mean that McBride would turn back into a pumpkin. It didn't happen; this offense has doubled down on McBride (and basically anyone else not named Marvin Harrison Jr.). He has touchdowns in each of his last three games against San Francisco, and that string will continue here as Arizona continues to chase its early-game deficits.

Dalton Kincaid ($5,500 DK, $5,700 FD), Bills (vs. LAC) Before the season, I was concerned that Kincaid's health issues might destroy his career early. (I was wrong; it happens.) Over two weeks, he ranks fourth in tight end receptions, and he leads all tight ends in receiving yards. In Week 1, McBride torched the Chargers, and this secondary is getting even more threadbare because of injuries. Even ifDJ Moore (shoulder) returns, Kincaid should be a lock for 6-60. This makes him the safest stack with Josh Allen, if you decide to spend up at quarterback.

Brock Bowers ($6,600 DK, $6,500 FD), Raiders (@ NO) Bowers (knee) is tentatively on track to make his 2026 premiere this weekend. I am concerned that even if he starts, he may be on a snap count. That said, a snap count for Bowers could still equal 6-60-2. Which suggests a reasonably realistic line of 4-45-1. I'm still upset that his price is on par with McBride, and I will fade him outside of my Raiders-Saints game stacks.

Travis Kelce ($4,500 DK, $5,500 FD), Chiefs (@ MIA) With his marriage in the rearview mirror, Kelce is playing football like a spry young lad again. This doesn't look anything like the slow, plodding Kelce that we have seen the last year and a half. It clearly helps to have his MVP-level quarterback back healthy. This season, Miami has already struggled against both Michael Mayer and George Kittle; it won't be any easier here. At $2k less than McBride and Bowers (and $1k less than Kincaid) on DK, Kelce may be the best value among the premier tight ends this week.

Sleepers

Pat Freiermuth ($3,800 DK, $5,100 FD), Steelers (vs. CIN) Stop me if you've heard this before. Cincinnati cannot stop opposing tight ends. Last season, they were historically bad against the position. This year looks like more of the same. Freiermuth has seen five targets in each of the first two games, and he has scored in three of his last four games against Cincinnati. The one game he didn't score against them, Darnell Washington went off. Start either of them here, and watch the points pile up for very little cost.

Darren Waller ($3,400 DK, $5,200 FD), Panthers (@ CLE) In Week 1, Waller caught a touchdown pass that was nullified by a penalty. Last week, he caught two touchdowns. It is clear that Waller is going to be a thing in the red zone for Carolina. I'm not expecting a load of receptions or yardage, but even one touchdown puts him in play on both sites.
