Cardinals’ Jacoby Brissett Drops ‘Fool’s Gold’ Line in Dismissing Talk Through Two Weeks
· Yahoo Sports
The Arizona Cardinals stunned many when they clobbered the Los Angeles Chargers in a 26-14 win in Week 1 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The Cards were humbled days after that, with Jacoby Brissett and company losing to the reigning Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, 31-7.

But in both games, Brissett doesn’t want people to make much out of it. He doesn’t think either game defines what Arizona is all about in the 2026 NFL season.
“It’s fool’s gold,” quarterback Jacoby Brissett said, via Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official website.
“If you let one week determine how you feel, you’re already behind the 8-ball.”
Arizona is perhaps still finding its footing under new head coach Mike LaFleur. It will take time, but the Cards are showing promise, despite their lopsided loss to the Seahawks.
Against the Seahawks, Brissett went 17/28 for 95 passing yards and a touchdown, but also threw an interception, while the Cardinals’ ground attack managed only 70 rushing yards on 17 carries.
Meanwhile, Seattle racked up 381 total yards to Arizona’s 151.
The Cardinals Are Still Discovering Their Identity Under a New Head Coach

Brissett and the Cardinals, coming off their first loss of the season, have the chance to show their resilience in Week 3, when they battle the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Arizona is not expected to seriously contend for the Super Bowl, but a 1-1 record through two weeks doesn’t look all that bad for the Cardinals, who won just three games in 2025.
