Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and all NFL injuries in Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL season produced several significant injuries, with Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed among the biggest names impacted.
Daniels was ruled out after suffering a left elbow injury on the final play of the first half against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams was carted to the locker room with a hamstring injury during Chicago’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings, while Reed exited Green Bay’s game against the New York Jets on a backboard after a neck injury.

Several other starters also left games, including New England Patriots guard Mike Onwenu, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert.

Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams suffer major injuries

He remained down before being taken to the locker room on a cart and was ruled out for the second half. Daniels finished with 96 passing yards and a touchdown, plus 69 rushing yards, before Marcus Mariota replaced him.
Williams suffered his injury late in the Bears’ 9-3 loss to the Vikings. The quarterback grabbed at his hamstring while trying to escape pressure before going down and being helped off the field. He was later carted to the locker room. Williams is scheduled for an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
Barkley avoided a major in-game absence after suffering a stinger during Philadelphia’s dramatic win over the Tennessee Titans. He missed most of the first half before returning after halftime with a neck roll.
Barkley said after the game that he will undergo an MRI. Dallas Goedert was less fortunate, leaving with a knee injury and not returning.
Reed’s injury was one of the most serious scares of the week. The Packers receiver was hit in the head and neck area early against the Jets and was placed on a spine board before being carted away.
He was ruled out with a neck injury. Coach Matt LaFleur said Reed had movement in his extremities and would remain in New Jersey overnight.

Packers, Patriots and 49ers take additional injury hits

Guard Aaron Banks was later ruled out with a toe injury, while defensive tackle Anthony Campbell did not return because of an ankle injury.
The Patriots dealt with several injuries in their 20-3 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Guard Mike Onwenu was carted off with an ankle injury, with initial X-rays reportedly showing a broken right ankle. Tight end Eli Raridon was ruled out with a thigh injury, while linebacker Dre’Mont Jones and safety Dell Pettus also did not return.
San Francisco lost Robinson to a high ankle sprain and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. to the same type of injury, according to Kyle Shanahan. Wide receiver Mike Evans also left with a hip injury but remained on the sideline, with Shanahan saying the injury did not appear serious.
Seattle running back Jadarian Price left against Arizona with a chest injury. Coach Mike Macdonald said X-rays were negative. Miami running back Jaylen Wright suffered a stinger and did not return against the 49ers.

Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley did not return against New Orleans with a toe injury, while Panthers safety Nick Scott was ruled out with an abdominal injury. Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell and defensive end Samson Ebukam were also ruled out against Carolina.
Jets defensive lineman David Onyemata was ruled out with a groin injury, while linebackers Marcelino McCrary-Ball and Kiko Mauigoa did not return because of ankle and quad injuries, respectively. Vikings defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins also left with a hip injury.
Steelers running back Rico Dowdle missed part of the first half with a toe injury before returning. Chargers tight end David Njoku was ruled out against Las Vegas with a knee injury, while Cowboys safety P.J. Locke did not return against Washington because of a foot injury.
Alec Pierce exits Sunday Night Football with concerning injury
The night ended with the Indianapolis Colts losing 33-30 in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs while seeing three players leave with injuries. Alec Pierce suffered a left-heel injury in the first quarter and was ruled out after one catch for 11 yards, though X-rays were negative. Cornerback Charvarius Ward also exited with a groin injury and did not return, while defensive end Micheal Clemons left with a toe injury.
Week 2 also began with injuries affecting Thursday night’s Lions-Bills game, while several prominent players entered Sunday already ruled out, including Nico Collins, Michael Pittman Jr., Zay Flowers, Jauan Jennings, Kyler Murray and Brock Bowers. Bowers missed Las Vegas’ game against the Chargers because of his knee injury.
