Bright Nights 5K road race registration closes after rapid sellout

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Registration for the Bright Nights 5K Road Race opened on Monday and has since sold out.
The Big E unveils new commemorative poster for 2026 seasonOrganized by the Spirit of Springfield, the event features a scenic course illuminated by holiday lights. The race is scheduled for November 30, with a rain date of December 1. Participants who secured one of the 500 available spots will receive an athletic shirt and vehicle admission tickets.

Registration officially opened at midnight on September 21, and the Spirit of Springfield stated that all tickets were sold before 8 a.m. The $85 fee increased by $10 this year and includes a long-sleeved hooded athletic shirt, a souvenir, a post-race soup supper, and a ticket to return to Bright Nights at Forest Park.
“Another sellout!” said Spirit of Springfield President Judy Matt. “The runners love this event, and I love seeing all the great costumes. Some participate to win, while others just want to experience it.”
This one-of-a-kind event takes runners along the 750,000 lights of Bright Nights at Forest Park, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Seuss Land Arch. The 5K will take runners through Bright Nights on hilly terrain.
A wait list is available on brightnights.org for those wishing to participate.
