CI Prep Sports Recap for Sept. 19, 2026

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) -- Another big weekend of prep sports in Central Illinois. In flag football action Richwoods defeated Peoria High 30-19. The Knights held a 24-7 lead in the second half, but the Lions fought back with QB Kayla Newby-Holsome rushing for a touchdown and then throwing a touchdown pass to Amara Pinkey to cut the deficit to 24-19. Richwoods would then run out the clock and score a late touchdown from Anjaliyah Adams.
Washington hosted U-High in boys soccer. The Panthers led 1-0 at halftime on a goal from Sutton Ege. The Pioneers responded in the second half when Jeffrey Johnson scored off a header to tie the game at one. The game stayed tied until the final two minutes when Jake Campen chipped in the game winning goal as Washington won 2-1.

Pekin hosted the Dragon Classic in boys golf. U-High won the tournament shooting a 590 over the two days. Dunlap's Nolan Eccles and U-High's Jack Quinn finished tied for second place, both shooting a 137. Notre Dame's Jack Coulter finished in sixth place.
Dunlap hosted a cross country meet. On the girls side Eureka finished in second place, while on the boys side Eureka was tied for first with IVC.
