- S Maximus Pulley was temporarily elevated from the practice squad.
Note: teams are permitted to temporarily elevate up to two practice squad players per game. Aplayer can be elevated up to three times in the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.
MAXIMUS PULLEY
The Eagles are elevating Pulley to give themselves more depth on the back end of their defense. Starting safety Andrew Mukuba was ruled questionable to play after suffering a knee injury in practice this week.
If Mukuba is unable to play, the Eagles will presumably go with Cooper DeJean and Marcus Epps as their top two safeties in base packages. With DeJean shifting to the slot in nickel formations, Michael Carter II figures to take his place at safety. Pulley is then the break glass in case of emergency backup who will ideally only play on special teams, if at all. The undrafted rookie defensive back showed some level of promise in training camp practices and preseason games but he’s more of a developmental player at this point in time.
It’s at least a little interesting to see that the Eagles are temporarily elevating Pulley and NOT 2026 draft pick Cole Wisniewski. The latter spent most of the offseason injured, though, so it’s not totally shocking that Pulley is ahead of him on the depth chart right now.
Had Andre’ Sam not suffered a serious injury in the Eagles’ preseason finale, he likely would’ve been the call up in this kind of situation where the team needs more safety depth. But alas.
OPEN ROSTER SPOT
The Eagles still have an open roster spot. They placed both Eli Stowers and Landon Dickerson on injured reserve over the past week and only signed Britian Covey.
