Brock Purdy suffered his first defeat of the season after losing a friendly bet with George Kittle.

The San Francisco 49ers took care of business against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia in Week 1. Purdy’s alma mater, Iowa State, however, failed to get the job done against Kittle’s alma mater, Iowa. The Cyclones lost to the Hawkeyes, 16-13.

Thus, Purdy wore an Iowa-themed outfit to his media conference, as shared by ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.

“Any Hawkeye logo looks ugly to me. It sucks,” said the 26-year-old quarterback.

Fans were all in for the hilarious wager.

“The way Kittle probably picked that hat out himself just to watch Brock suffer on camera is sending me,” said @chloeribbonxo.

“I love that they do this,” added @CyClausen.

“@gkittle46 next year, make him scream ‘Go Hawks!’ into the camera whenever his next rushing touchdown in a game happens,” suggested @OREAR123.

“That’s just torture. It’s still a Cyclones state,” claimed @sledgwick.

“That hat is a war crime,” declared @JayLockeriusII.

“Black and gold looks Purdy good on him,” joked @Radio_Hawkeye.

Purdy starred for Iowa State from 2018 to 2021, making it to the All-Big 12 Team three times. He left with 32 school records, including most touchdowns, most completions, and most yards.

Kittle, meanwhile, played for Iowa from 2012 to 2016. He tallied 48 receptions for 737 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series against the Cyclones, 47-25.

Purdy and Kittle will be on the same side again when they battle the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

It is safe to assume that their money is on the 49ers.
