Unlisted allergen forces recall of Costco chicken chunks

Undeclared soy is behind Costco’s recall of boxed chicken breast chunks.
Produced throughout the month of August and sold at Costco stores across Canada in August and September of this year, 840g boxes of Rossdown Meal Starters Black Garlic Chicken Breast Chunks are being recalled due to undeclared soy allergens, according to a notice posted last week on Costco’s website .
“Rossdown Farms & Natural Foods is recalling certain Lot Number/Production of the Rossdown Meal Starters Black Garlic Chicken Breast Chunks due to the potential presence of an undeclared soy allergen,” read the notice.
The recall targets two specific production runs — products with UPC code 6-28000 60094-7 and with lot numbers of 2461263 (Aug. 10, 2026 production date) and 2461272 (Aug. 19, 2026 production date).
Anybody wishing to do so can return the items to Costco for a full refund.
“Do not consume this product if you are allergic or sensitive to soy,” read the recall notice.
“Consuming products to which you are allergic or sensitive may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.”
Costco dealing with other recalls
Costco has seen a number of food-related item recalls since June.
On June 8, an over-fortification of vitamins A and D prompted a recall of two-litre cartons of Lactantia UltraPūr 2% M.F. lactose-free milk, purchased between May and June of this year.
Near the end of July , certain production runs of 24-count boxes of Alfa Croissant with cocoa cream filling, sold at Costco between June and July 2026, were recalled due to mould, while 12-count trays of Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo candy bars were likewise recalled for unlisted pistachios.
As well, undeclared nuts were the reason behind last month’s recall of numerous lots of creamy milk chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, due to the presence of almonds not listed on the packaging.
On Aug. 11, Costco recalled two varieties of The Greek Gods yogurt due to mould being found in the product.
