Wednesday, September 9

Girls Soccer

Streetsboro 3, Cloverleaf 2

McKenzie Montgomery scored the game-winning goal with 1:12 remaining to lift the Rockets to a critical Metro Athletic Conference victory. Montgomery scored all three Streetsboro goals, notching the game's first goal in the 18th minute and giving the Rockets (4-1-1, 3-0-0) the lead again at the half with a goal in the 34th minute. Kiersyn Berry assisted both Cloverleaf goals and Stella Bennett made 18 saves for the Colts (3-3-1, 1-2-1). Morgan Novak made 12 saves for the Rockets.

Volleyball

Mogadore def. Lake Center, 25-23, 25-21, 25-17

The Wildcats improved to 6-1, fueled by a huge performance from senior Kaitlyn Clester (23 kills, 11 digs, nine blocks, eight aces). Junior Emma Butler added 25 assists and nine digs and senior Gracie Shull tallied 23 digs and six kills for Mogadore.

Tuesday, September 8

Volleyball

Garfield def. Southeast, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15

Tenley Korosec had 26 assists and Lola Lake had 12 kills to lead the G-Men to victory. Charlee Hill added nine aces and seven kills for Garfield while Olivia Kuchenbecker and Leah Hill had seven and five kills, respectively. Payton Soltis (15 digs, two aces) and Kendall Thompson (nine digs, two aces) led the way defensively.

Rootstown def. Wickliffe, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22

Olivia O'Neill had 19 assists to help the Rovers improve to 4-2 (1-2 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division). Sophia Byers had a strong all-around game for Rootstown, including nine kills, six digs, four aces and three blocks.

Girls Soccer

Roosevelt 8, Cloverleaf 0

Maggie Pazderak had a hat trick and Audrey Haines had two goals and three assists as the Rough Riders dominated one of the Metro Athletic Conference's traditional powers. Sammi Maccarone added a goal and an assist while Grace Schoenberger had a nine-save shutout for Roosevelt (6-0-0, 4-0-0).

Waterloo 10, Mineral Ridge 4

Alexis Henry erupted for five goals for the Vikings. Koralee Jenior (two goals, one assist) and Julia Boyle (one goal, two assists) also played leading roles offensively for Waterloo (4-2-0, 2-1-0 Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference).

Field 14, Crestwood 1

Freshmen Ava Murphy and Odessa Hottensmith combined to score six goals for the Falcons, who had 10 scorers overall. Kelsey Tucker assisted two of Field's first three goals and added a goal of her own before halftime.

United 5, Rootstown 2

The Rovers fell despite a 25-save performance from Addison Pownall. Elliott Smallfield scored both goals for Rootstown.

Boys Soccer

Roosevelt 3, Lutheran West 1

Zach Pastor and Bryson Scarlett had a goal and an assist apiece for the Rovers (6-0-0, 2-0-0 Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division), while Sam Textor also found the back of the net.
