The Yellow Jacket men's golf team won the 2026 Folds of Honor Collegiate on Wednesday at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan. Not only did Georgia Tech claim the team title, but freshman Max Emberson also took home medalist honors in his first collegiate start.
"Just so thankful for all these guys buying in," Hybl said. "Since June 4, our mission has been to build something that is long-lasting, but I wouldn’t be here without all of our former players and Coach (Bruce) Heppler, who built this program to what it is. I’m just super grateful and can’t thank the Folds of Honor, Col Rooney, and everything that you guys have done. This week has been amazing.”
Hybl left the University of Oklahoma after 17 years, where he helped the Sooners win the 2017 national championship, to head back to his home state and become the fifth head coach in Georgia Tech history. And his mark on the program is showing quickly.

Georgia Tech finished at 18 under, five shots better than Notre Dame and Texas. Emberson shot 4-under 67 in the final round, besting Texas junior Daniel Bennett by two for medalist honors.
“There were a lot of close calls up to this point and I think reflecting through those experiences brought me to this tournament,” Emberson said. said. “I really brought my lessons from those events to this and I just tried to plow through with that."
Emberson is the first men's player to win the Folds of Honor Collegiate wire-to-wire.
He wasn't the only freshman to win at American Dunes on Wednesday. Duke freshman Mia Hammond was co-medalist in the women's tournament with Florida State's Haruhi Nakatani. Hammond became the third Duke freshman in program history to win her first collegiate tournament, joining Amanda Blumenherst (2005) and Candy Hannemann (1998).
Florida State edged out Texas A&M by a shot to win the women's title.
