Panthers Add Notre Dame Star in 2027 NFL Mock Draft

The Carolina Panthers are looking to get back to the playoffs in 2026 after reaching the postseason last year.

Despite the team finishing the year 8-9, Carolina was able to get in due to a weak NFC South division. But last year is now in the past, and the Panthers are looking to build on the success that they did see.
Carolina enters the year with real questions across the offense, mainly with quarterback Bryce Young. But the defense could be one of the real strengths of the roster this year, especially in the secondary.
At the cornerback spots, the Panthers have a nice duo in Mike Jackson and Jaycee Horn, giving them strong coverage on the outside. But teams can never have too much depth, and Jackson will be entering the final year of his current contract.
This could see the Panthers look to target more help at the position, potentially from an upcoming draft. Carolina wants to make sure that they have talent in the secondary, as it has become a major point of success for them in recent seasons.
In a new 2027 mock draft before the start of the NFL season, the Panthers take cornerback Leonard Moore out of Notre Dame. Bleacher Report's Scouting Department put the mock together, seeing Carolina take Moore with the No. 7 overall pick.
"The 2027 draft class' No. 1 cornerback prospect brings a great blend of size (6'2", 215 lbs), physicality and technique to any defensive back room. Moore can play comfortably in man or zone coverage. While he isn't the class' best athlete, he's the best technician and makes up for any perceived deficiencies with a high football IQ," Bleacher Report's Scouting Department wrote.
Moore is considered to be an NFL-ready cornerback who has elite skills. Pairing him with Horn long-term could give the Panthers a lethal combination in the secondary for opponents to try and deal with.
Last season with the Fighting Irish, Moore registered 31 total tackles, five interceptions, including a return for a touchdown, and seven pass deflections. Putting this type of production onto the Panthers could be special for years to come.
Carolina seems like they could be a strong landing spot for Moore, especially with Jackson not on the books after this season. For now, Moore will try to boost his draft stock in college, with Carolina attempting to get back to the postseason.
