The Green Bay Packers are currently making their final preparations for the upcoming season, which is slated to get underway on Sunday. Running back Josh Jacobs is currently on the commissioner’s exempt list, meaning he is unable to practice or play with the team.
Jacobs has a court date coming up on Thursday regarding his charges for a domestic dispute, which have since been reduced to misdemeanor charges, and recently, head coach Matt LaFleur spoke on the situation.
“The more clarity the better, but it’s just wait and see,” said LaFleur, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN NFL Nation on X, formerly Twitter.

Demovsky also reported that “Jacobs is not expected to appear but his lawyers will.”
Jacobs is the most talented running back on the Packers roster, and many were shocked at the news of his arrest earlier this offseason. The Packers have since pivoted by signing other running backs ahead of the new season, but they’d certainly like to have the star back on the field sooner rather than later as his legal situation plays out.
Meanwhile, LaFleur himself is facing some pressure heading into this season after two straight Wild Card round exits in Green Bay, including one last year against the Chicago Bears that had many fans calling for his job, with the Packers squandering a big lead to their divisional rivals.
LaFleur and the Packers will look to start proving their doubters wrong when the regular season gets underway on Sunday on the road vs the Minnesota Vikings.
