Expect Rashid Shaheed to have expanded role in the Seahawks offense this year

The Seattle Seahawks have a litany of dynamic players across their roster, but especially at wide receiver. Quarterback Sam Darnold has plenty of weapons at his disposal, and one that could have a bigger impact is the speedster Rashid Shaheed.
Seattle acquired Shaheed from the Saints last year in trade deadline move, and he likely was the difference between them and the Rams when it came to representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. Shaheed gave the Seahawks' special teams a jolt we haven't seen since Percy Harvin in Super Bowl XLVIII. However, his primary position is wide receiver, and he did not do much as one for Seattle. In fact, Shaheed finished the season with 15 receptions for 188 yards and no receiving touchdowns.

Expect that to change in 2026.
Shaheed has had a "killer offseason" according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, and should be in line to be a bigger factor in the receiving game for Seattle. This is what I have felt would be the case ever since the Seahawks re-signed Shaheed to a three-year deal worth $51 million. At times last year, it felt as if Sam Darnold and Shaheed were always a step or two off in their connection. Offense is hard. It's choreography and timing. A receiver coming to a new team, a new city, and learning to work with a new quarterback will always be a challenge for anyone.
Now that Shaheed has had a full offseason under his belt with Darnold and Seattle's new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury, I expect him to have better chemistry and make a considerable impact on offense this year.
