90+1’ – George again, saved. Barry found him open, but he was clearly offside.

90’ – Grealish shot charged down, throw-in from Myko is cleared.
Five minutes to be added on here.

87’ – Fernandes finds Shaw overlapping, he beats AMN to get his cross into the box, over Tarkowski and Sesko is in space, and his powerful header beats Pickford. The England #1 got his hand to it, but couldn’t keep it out, 2-1 to United. Ugh.

86’ – Double-change for United again, with Yoro and Santos on.
Sesko header goes wide.

83’ – Hackney looks so good on the ball, drives at United, and sets up George for a shot on the right, TYRIQUE THUNDERBASTARD ALERT!!
It is now 1-1 and boy what a rocket that was from George into the top corner!

81’ – Dalot booked as he pulls back Grealish who had beaten him. Freekick near the left touchline. Flicked on by Branthwaite, punched away by Lammens. Poor shot from Myko, well wide.

78’ – Garner goes off now, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles makes his Everton debut, but what a waste of a substitution window as he should have just gone off two minutes earlier.
Sub-plot here as Tark and Fernandes come together with the United prima donna going down in a heap in the middle of the park. Play goes on, and on, as Everton have interest in stopping play for him. Great tackle from Mainoo stops Hackney in the box. Maguire is booked for dissent too

75’ – Moyes’ second sub is an odd one in that he takes Rohl off, but Hayden Hackney is on. Expect Garner to go to right back, but now the player is down injured.

73’ – Another long throw into the box from Myko, falls to KDH and he finally catches the shot with venom, but it comes off Barry, falls to Armstrong and his shot is poor and goes wide.

69’ – George is on the right now and still looking lively, wins a freekick on the edge of the middle third. Ball into the box, and no one can make solid contact, goalie takes it.
United double change, with Rashford and Cunha off, Sesko and Dorgu on.

67’ – Grealish goes left and immediately in action playing Myko through on the overlap, his cross is cut out for a corner. Ball falls to KDH at the edge of the six-yard box and again it’s tame, easy for the goalie to collect.

66’ – Initial attack blocked but with the Everton midfield stretched again, Tielemans has a crack from distance, blocked by Tarky for a corner. Sent to the edge of the box, Shaw’s shot is poor and wide.
Everton make their first change and it’s a big roar for Jack Grealish as he comes on to replace Johnson.

64’ – Rashford dances past Rohl, and is pulled down by the Everton player who is also booked.
Pickford might have picked up a knock in that coming together in the box, and Mark Travers is stretching on the sidelines. We’ll keep an eye out.

62’ – Rashford and Cunha combine and in all sorts of space on the Everton right. The former cuts it back to the latter in the six-yard box and Tarky with a last-ditch sliding challenge keeps the score as is. VAR reviews and has no problem, that was a brilliant tackle.
Shaw then fouls Rohl and is booked, the first yellow card for the visitors.

60’ – More chances! Barry does brilliantly to beat Martinez and then fires a shot, but Shaw slides in and blocks it. Ball falls to KDH but his first-time shot is poor and dribbles to Lammens.

57’ – Poor touch from Johnson allows the ball to run away, but he stretches to shoot, blocked by Martinez for a corner. Corner is cleared and United break at pace, but George does brilliantly to chase down a through ball.
Now Johnson leads a counter, but with three players in front of him and Barry free on the right, does nothing and the ball dribbles away to Lammens.

54’ – Another good move from the Toffees started by George, comes to Armstrong for a shot in the box, but it’s blocked.
George again, and wins a corner off Dalot. Garner inswinger from the left, Mbeumo heads away. United try to break, Cunha leaves the ball and it rolls out with Everton exposed.

51’ – Everton have been woken up now, good ball into the box just runs away from Barry.

49’ – Everton counter now and KDH tears down the wing, lovely cross into the box and Johnson does not do enough to attack the ball, argh.

47’ – Too bloody easy. Mbeumo cuts in from the right touchline, runs away from Myko and no one closes him down and he just curls a low shot into the far post beating Pickford easily, 1-0 to the visitors.

46’ – United kick off the second half, no changes for either side.

Halftime Thoughts – Everton ended the half much better than they started it. Not doing enough with the ball when they have it, and have been too open in the middle when without it. Johnson and Armstrong have to go off, they’ve been off the pace and both been booked too.

45+3’ – Garner intercepts and runs with the ball, long ball looking for Barry that Maguire cuts out.
Branthwaite slides in to tackle Rashford, ball falls to Cunha and the Everton defender does well to cut that out too.
Halftime whistle goes, the players walk off and Brooks is getting booed heartily.

45+1’ – George running at the defence and Everton have United pinned in their own box. The visitors can’t clear and now a throw-in for the Blues. Myko’s long throw bobbles about, falls to Branthwaite but his low shot is straight at the goalie.

44’ – Fernandes falls over like a soft flan, and the crowd is irate again. Brooks of course doesn’t have the balls to book him for simulation.
Three minutes to be added on here.

42’ – Barry takes a shot that’s charged down from the right side of the box. No open looks for the Blues.
And just as I say that, Rohl with a lovely delivery from the right, it beats Maguire and Barry cannot direct his header and it goes over, oooh.

38’ – Rohl is back on the right now. Odd that.
Mbeumo cuts down George and the fans are livid that there’s still no booking for a United player. Garner into the box, headed tamely wide by Barry.

36’ – Rohl and Myko have swapped wings to deal with the threat of Rashford. Doesn’t matter as the England international beats Myko too but Tarky is over to clear for a corner.
Deep corner, Branthwaite lands heavily and is winded as the ball goes out for a goalkick.

33’ – Johnson completely ineffective for me, done absolutely nothing so far. Getting caught offside twice by that fossil Luke Shaw. And now he’s booked too fouling Cunha just outside the box. Freekick from a short corner position, Fernandes over the ball, Armstrong heads away the dinked cross.

30’ – Rashford whips in a low cross with pace, Branthwaite does well clearing that before Rohl is fouled.
Garner coming into the game is certainly helping the Blues when we have the ball.
Lammens drops the ball going up for an aerial with Dewsbury-Hall, he’s certainly weak there and we should take advantage.

28’ – James Garner finally looks to have woken up and immediately the Blues look better in possession. The move ends with Brennan Johnson’s second offside of the day, needs to be better with that against the wily veteran Luke Shaw.

25’ – Everton’s midfield is struggling to keep up with the trio of Mainoo, Tielemans and Fernandes, can’t get close to them and the visitors are moving the ball too quickly.
The Toffees are horribly limited here without Iliman Ndiaye, just no out ball or creativity right now.

20’ – Fernandes in space, and he takes a shot that goes off Branthwaite, corner. Rohl heads away, vicious volley from Dalot into a crowd that Tarkowski blocks, Barry heads back to Pickford.
More trouble as Rashford beats Rohl down the left, cutback is run over by Dalot and Cunha is unmarked, his sidefooted shot goes over Tarky and Pickford and over the bar too. Phew.

18 ‘ – Tielemans takes a pot shot from 30 or so yards away, bounces awkwardly just in front of Pickford but he gathers calmly.

16’ – George looking lively here with the ball. He’s looked like Everton’s best source of attack so far.

12’ – Diogo Dalot is turned by Tyrique George and left for dead, he tugs his man back down but somehow the ref deems that not a yellow card. The stadium is howling with derision, especially as seconds later he books Harrison Armstrong for throwing Fernandes to the ground. Careful John Brooks, your bias is showing.

9’ – Ball into the United box and Barry goes down going for the ball, that was no penalty despite what the home fans believe. Strange from Lammens with his reluctance to come for that ball when it popped in the air, something for the Blues to exploit.

8’ – United overlap on their left, cross into the box from Shaw, Mbeumo’s cushioned header finds Fernandes with a volley, and it comes off the top of the crossbar! Close shave for the Blues, Pickford was nowhere near it.

5’ – Maguire is finally back up and we resume the game, with all the heat having been taken out of it with that long delay.

1’ – Harry Maguire is down early after a collision with Thierno Barry. Looks like his face ran into Barry’s shoulder going up for an aerial ball.

Quick shot of Angus Kinnear in the stands, he looks quite perturbed as he should be. Kudos to him for showing up, he’s going to receive a lot of stick today from the fans.

The siren has gone off, Z-Cars has played and the entire stadium is singing as one “Forever Everton” and the Toffees kick off.
