Missoula Big Sky pulls away late for win over Great Falls High football

MISSOULA – The Great Falls High football team kept things within striking distance against one of the top Class AA squads but fell 28-14 to Missoula Big Sky in nonconference game on Friday, Sept. 4, at Missoula County Public Schools Stadium.

The Bison (0-2) led at 14-13 at halftime on two touchdown passes from quarterback Tristan O’Leary and a blocked extra point, according to 406 MT Sports, but the Eagles (2-0) scored a pair of unanswered touchdowns while the defense pitched a shutout in the second half.
O’Leary, who threw touchdowns to receivers Hunter Christensen and Kayden Davison, finished 12-for-19 passing for 100 yards and one pick.
Big Sky quarterback Eli Kasberg finished 13-for-24 passing for 151 yards with one passing and one rushing touchdown each and an interception. The University of Montana commit also led the Eagles with 100 yards on the ground, per 406.
"Hats off to Great Falls High man, they had a great game plan and executed their stuff well and it was really good for us because we needed to face that kind of stuff," Big Sky coach Matt Johnson told 406 Sports.
The Bison start off the Eastern AA schedule on Friday, Sept. 11, at Billings West (2-0). Big Sky, ranked No. 2 in the most recent 406 poll, faces off with Helena Capital on Thursday, Sept. 10 at home.
