Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly set to return to South America to look for Jayden Adams‘ replacement.

The Brazilians are still smarting from the loss of Adams who passed away in Cape Town soon after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Now, according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, Sundowns have shown huge interest in Josen Escobar.

Nonetheless, Sundowns face stiff competition as there two more teams interested in the 21-year-old Colombia U23 international.

Santos Laguna of Mexico and an unnamed Bulgarian team are keen on signing Escobar on loan while Sundowns want to buy him.

The defensive midfielder is valued at R37 million by his team America de Cali, and Sundowns would fancy their chances of getting him.

The Tshwane giants recently freed-up their foreign spots by parting ways with Portuguese midfielder Miguel Reisinho.

Escobar has proven to be a reliable midfielder with over 100 official matches under his belt despite being 21 years of age.

He has featured in 117 matches for America de Cali over the years, scoring four goals and providing seven assists as central defensive midfielder.

Escobar also had a stint with Mohau Nkota’s parent club Al-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia where played just eight games.

Nkota has since returned to the PSL on a season-long loan deal with former club Orlando Pirates.
