Start of Cincinnati Reds-Milwaukee Brewers series opener delayed

The Cincinnati Reds announced on social media that their series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers at Great American Ball Park on Friday, Sept. 4 will start in a delay.
The matchup was originally scheduled to start at 6:10 p.m.

The start times of several area Week 3 high school football games were pushed back by a heat advisory, which remains in place through 8 p.m. The heat index reached as high as 107 on Friday.
The tarp was put on the Great American Ball Park infield shortly after 5 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning in Hamilton County was put in effect at 5:33 p.m.
The Reds issued a weather update at 5:35 p.m. indicating that lightning had "been detected in the area surrounding Great American Ball Park in advance of a storm system that will move through downtown shortly."
