Marcus Rashford may have moved on from Barcelona, but his recent gesture suggests his spell in Catalonia has not disappeared from his personal story.
The Manchester United forward has revealed his latest tattoo on Instagram, featuring the number 9, which is his current shirt number at Old Trafford.
Yet another number appears alongside it: 14, the shirt number Rashford wore during his season with Barcelona.
It is an understated detail, but one that immediately links two very different chapters of his career.
The 9 represents where Rashford is now, while the 14 preserves a reminder of where he has been.

For the England international, tattoos have become a visual record of the people, places and footballing moments that have deeply influenced his life.
His family occupies an important place in that collection, with a design on his left thigh dedicated to them.
His right thigh contains references to places connected to his childhood and the years he spent growing up with his mother and grandmother.
Football, naturally, occupies much of the remaining space.

Before adding the 14 and 9, Rashford had already tattooed the numbers 39, 19 and 10, all of which were worn during different stages of his Manchester United career.
Barcelona chapter now has a permanent place
Understandably, Rashford’s connection with Manchester United runs even deeper. However, his Barcelona stint was more memorable.
In his only season under Hansi Flick, the England forward made 49 appearances and ended the season with 14 goals while also winning the La Liga as well as the Spanish Super Cup.
Sure, the number 14 does not carry the same lifelong association as his United numbers, but its inclusion shows that his time at Barcelona has become part of the story he wants to carry with him.
