Cameron Brink Rips Enes Kanter Freedom After WNBA Incident

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink addressed former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom and his comments, offering her perspective on the situation.
On Wednesday, the 2024 draft pick spoke with the media and shared her thoughts on the former NBA center, who was kicked out of Sunday's matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky.

Earlier in the season, the former Boston Celtics center stated that he identified as a woman and declared for the WNBA, which was in response to the league's current policy that does not define what a woman is.
Brink spoke with the media on Aug. 26 and shared her thoughts on Freedom.
"I don't even know what his name is ... Enes Kanter," Brink said. "He's a stupid piece of s---."
Enes Kanter Freedom Draws WNBA Controversy
This season, the WNBA is celebrating its 30th season, but it has been met with controversy. Earlier in the season, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham commented during an ESPN interview in which she spoke about "protecting" women's sports and said women should not have to compete with biological men.
Since Cunningham's comments, debates have sparked nationwide. Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve wore a shirt to support transgender athletes while she spoke to Cunningham before their teams faced each other.
Freedom, along with former NBA forward Royce White, declared for the WNBA draft. Since then, the league created a task force for player eligibility for transgender players.
Freedom was kicked out of Sunday's matchup between the Sky and Fever after he and guard Natasha Cloud exchanged words. On Aug. 26, the former NBA forward appeared on Fox News and expressed his disbelief that he was kicked out of the game.
The Turkish native wore an orange hood with the words "Let Freedom Play" to mock the league. He did indicate that he understood the rules and did nothing to be kicked out of the arena.
Freedom does plan to take legal action against the WNBA.
Cameron Brink's 2026 Season
Brink, along with other WNBA players, has banded together when it comes to the rights of the transgender community. This season, she is averaging 9.4 points, a career high, five rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 50% from the field.
She has played 28 games as she continues to find her niche with Los Angeles. The Sparks are 13-25 and sit 11th in the league standings.
Los Angeles has six games remaining, and four of the remaining matchups are against teams above .500. Despite the controversy around the league, the franchise is in the process of having its $150 million practice facility built in El Segundo, California.
The Sparks' next matchup is Friday, Aug. 28, against the Washington Mystics, who clinched their first playoff berth since 2023.
