Dolphins acquire former second-round pick in mock trade with Steelers

With two weeks until the start of the regular season, the Miami Dolphins have a cornerback room that might not be able to keep up with most receiver groups in the NFL.
Knowing that, the Dolphins should be exploring all avenues to upgrade at the position before their Week 1 battle with the Las Vegas Raiders, and that includes finding a young cornerback to acquire in a trade.

Interestingly, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay recently put together some trade packages that the Pittsburgh Steelers might consider for Joey Porter Jr. That potential package that Kay suggested for Miami includes a 2027 third-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Porter is the son of the four-time All-Pro and Super Bowl champion by the same name. Pittsburgh took the 26-year-old in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft out of Penn State, and in 47 games over three years, he's recorded 165 tackles, 31 passes defensed, three sacks and one interception.
With Porter entering the final year of his rookie deal, he's set to hit free agency next offseason, so Pittsburgh may be willing to move on now to get multiple picks than the conditional selection that they'd likely get if he were to leave in 2027.
The Dolphins would give up some respectable draft capital for a cornerback that they could lock down and build around for years to come along with Chris Johnson.
