The 2026 edition of the Colorado State football program is a lot different than a year ago.
Jay Norvell was leading the Rams at the start of the 2025 season, but a midseason coaching change led to a new direction.

Where is Norvell now? How about his assistants? Here's a look at where the 2025 CSU football staff is as the 2026 season gets underway.
Note: The coaches below were those CSU listed as "coaching staff." This list does not include those who were considered football "support staff."
Jay Norvell
The 2025 CSU head coach was fired in October and has since moved on to Iowa, where he's working as the running backs coach for the Hawkeyes.
Tyson Summers
Summers was brought in for 2025 as Norvell's defensive coordinator and became interim head coach after Norvell was fired. Summers was retained by new coach Jim Mora and is CSU's defensive coordinator for a second year in a row.
Matt Mumme
Mumme was CSU's associate head coach and passing game coordinator in 2025 and had previously had the title of quarterbacks coach with the Rams. Mumme briefly called plays in the 2025 season around the time of Norvell's firing. He's not currently coaching.
Bill Best
Best's title in 2025 was run game coordinator and offensive line coach for the Rams. He's now the run game coordinator at Louisiana Tech.
Tommy Perry
Perry was CSU's special teams coordinator under Norvell. He's now the special teams coordinator at South Alabama.
Matty Ah You
Ah You was CSU's nickelbacks coach in 2025 and remains in the same role under Mora in 2026.
Grant Chesnut
Chesnut was CSU's tight ends coach in 2025 and eventually became the play-caller late in the season after Norvell's firing. He's now an assistant principal/athletic director and the offensive coordinator at Bremen High School in Georgia.
James Finley
Finley was CSU's wide receivers coach in 2025 (and previously the tight ends coach). He's now the wide receivers coach at Oregon State and will return to CSU on Oct. 3 when the Beavers face the Rams in the first Pac-12 game of the season.
Brayden Herdic
Herdic was CSU's safeties coach in 2025 and remains in the same role in 2026.
Chase Holbrook
Holbrook was CSU's quarterbacks coach in 2025. He's now the director of football strategy at Baylor.
John Jancek
Jancek coached outside linebackers for the Rams in 2025. He does not appear to be on a coaching staff for 2026.
Luke Johnson
Johnson was CSU's defensive line coach in 2025 and is now a defensive quality control assistant for the Washington Commanders in the NFL.
Nigel Madison
Madison was CSU's cornerbacks coach in 2025 and is now the inside linebackers coach at UAB.
Jeremy Moses
Moses was CSU's running backs coach in 2025. He's now the offensive coordinator at Crosby High School in Texas.
Clint Sintim
Sintim was CSU's 2025 linebackers coach. He does not appear to be on a coaching staff for 2026.
