Yankees SP Ryan Weathers leaves Saturday start vs. Blue Jays with 'forearm discomfort,' will undergo imaging

New York Yankees starting pitcher Ryan Weathers was pulled from Saturday's start against the Toronto Blue Jays due to "forearm discomfort," the team announced.
The Yankees added that the veteran southpaw would undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury.

Weathers made it through 3 1/3 innings against Toronto. He threw 72 pitches and allowed two earned runs on eight hits. Weathers didn't issue any walks and struck out three.
The 26-year-old is in his first season with the Yankees. He has made 25 starts this year and has tallied a 5-7 record with a 3.60 ERA. The southpaw has struck out 143 in 137 1/3 innings.
Weathers is the latest Yankee to be banged up. It was also announced Saturday that Giancarlo Stanton, who is recovering from a right calf strain, suffered a new injury to his left calf during a fall while running.
Starting pitcher Max Fried is on the IL due to a recurring elbow bone bruise. He is scheduled to throw a bullpen Saturday.
Second baseman Ryan McMahon is on the 10-day IL due to a thumb injury, but is not expected to be sidelined long.
New York did get some good news on the injury front. Outfielder Cody Bellinger is expected to be activated from the IL on Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Clarke Schmidt is working to return from the IL, but manager Aaron Boone said the plan is to use him as a reliever upon his return rather than in his usual starter role.
The imaging for Weathers will determine how bad his forearm injury is and if how much time he will miss, if any.
