James Tibbs III adds another multi-HR game
· Yahoo Sports
It was a great day for standout hitters in the Dodgers minor league system, with James Tibbs III and Josue De Paula shining in Triple-A and Double-A.
Player of the dayFor the fifth time this season, James Tibbs III left the yard on multiple occasions, starring in a Comets win over the Space Cowboys. Just to mix it up a bit, the second of these long balls went to the opposite field, taking him to 92 RBI in 202.

The 10 total bases recorded by Tibbs were the most he has had since a three-homer game back in early April, reaching double-digits in that department for the third time this season.
Triple-A Oklahoma CityPerforming well since his return, activated in late June, Landon Knack had his longest start of the year, completing six innings of one-run ball with one strikeout per inning in a 6-3 win. The only time the Space Cowboys got to Knack was with a solo shot from their ninth-hole hitter, catcher César Salazar.

Again with a batting average over .300, James Tibbs III reached safely in all of his five plate appearances, recording four hits and just as many RBI with a couple of long balls, taking his season total to 26. All about the power in this one, the Comets also had a solo shot from first baseman Matt Gorski.
Double-A TulsaTrailing 6-5 in the 10th, the Drillers walked it off against the Sod Poodles thanks to a three-run shot from Josue De Paula, one of three home runs for Tulsa on the evening—the other two coming from Chris Newell and Kole Myers.

Starting for the Drillers, Adam Serwinowski had one of the weirdest lines you’ll see, walking five hitters and striking out seven, finishing his outing with more runs allowed (4) than hits (3). Attempting to pitch the sixth inning as well, Serwinowski got the hook after a leadoff walk and saw the Drillers twice surrender the lead before finally winning it in the 10th.
High-A Great LakesBefore starting up their regular series, the Loons and TinCaps had to finish a game from earlier in the month suspended due to rain. Picking things up after four innings and trailing 6-2, the Loons tried to get back into it, but a three-run shot from Mairo Martinus wasn’t enough. The Loons lost a home game that was actually played on the road.
A different matchup and a similar result for the second half of this doubleheader. Once again, leaving all of their offensive production in the hands of Martinus, the Loons came up short against the TinCaps. Hitting his second three-run shot on the day, Martinus drove in all four of his team’s runs in a 7-4 defeat. It’s been a rocky month of August for starter David Frost, who, with his five earned runs allowed, now has let through 13 in just 9.1 innings across his last three starts.
Class-A OntarioIn the middle of a slugfest in which both teams combined for 17 runs, the solo shots weren’t enough for the Tower Buzzers to outlast the 66ers. With the game tied in the top of the ninth, Henry Ford took Jecsua Liborius deep for a three-run shot, leading to a final score of 10-7 in favor of the visiting Inland Empire.
In that one homer alone, Ford managed to drive in as many runs as Joendry Vargas, Easton Shelton, and Caleb Johnson had in their long shots. Two men reached in the bottom of the ninth to bring the tying run up to the plate, but Ching-Hsien Ko and Oswaldo Osorio couldn’t do anything with it.
Lastly, on the bump, nineteen-year-old starter Luis Gamez delivered his third straight outing, allowing no more than two runs after a rocky start to his time with the Ontario Tower Buzzers.
TransactionsWith Emmet Sheehan called back up to the big league club, left-hander Charlie Barnes and Blake Treinen were assigned to the Oklahoma City Comets. The Tulsa Drillers activated outfielder Chris Newell.
