ActionSA president Herman Mashaba confirmed Temudzani’s membership on X.
“Today, we welcomed Gabriel Temudzani, the legendary actor who brought Vho-Vhafhuwi Azwindini Mukwevho to life on Muvhango, as the newest member of ActionSA! A familiar face.
“A respected voice. And now, part of the movement for change. Ro vhatangadza kha muta wa ActionSA,” Mashaba wrote.
Following the announcement, Temudzani also took to X to thank Mashaba and said he was ready to get to work.
“The honour of rebuilding our country is incumbent on all of us as South Africans. I’m ready to work towards a new path forward, one that is inclusive, citizen-driven, & puts people first. Let’s get to work,” he wrote.

Speaking to TimesLIVE, the 46-year-old actor said his decision to enter politics had been a long time coming, as politics had been part of his life from a young age.
The Limpopo-born actor said he had previously campaigned for another political party but had now decided it was time to “shift gears” and consciously chose ActionSA.
“I feel that the green party is the only vehicle that can steer us away from our current downward trajectory. It is the only party that can usher in a new dispensation that is purpose-driven, people-centred, and capable of delivering much-needed services to the majority of our people, particularly black South Africans. ActionSA inspires real hope for our nation,” he said.
SOUTH AFRICANS HEAD TO THE POLLS ON 4 NOVEMBER
Gabriel Temudzani’s entry into politics comes at a time when political parties are ramping up their preparations for South Africa’s local government elections, scheduled for 4 November.
The elections are expected to be closely watched as voters head to the polls to elect representatives who will oversee municipalities and local service delivery.
Temudzani is not the first public figure to enter party politics, with South African political parties frequently drawing personalities from the entertainment, business and civil society sectors.
His move also comes amid increased cross-party movement ahead of the elections, with politicians and public figures changingaffiliations as parties position themselves for the upcoming polls.
