Sergio Busquets appointed assistant coach at Barcelona Atletic

Barcelona have confirmed that club legend Sergio Busquets has returned to the club and will work with Juliano Belletti’s Barca Atletic side.

Busquets was spotted back at the club earlier this summer, and it’s now been confirmed that the 38-year-old will take up a new role as an assistant coach.

Here is the club’s official statement:

“Sergio Busquets joins Barça Atlètic as assistant coach from this Monday. The Barça legend is joining Juliano Belletti’s team to bring his experience and football knowledge to the Barça team while he completes his coaching course.

“In this way, Busquets returns to the Club three years after putting an end to his time as a first team player. After 15 seasons defending the Barça shirt, the player from Badia del Vallès continued his career at Inter Miami, where he played for two and a half seasons before announcing his retirement from the pitch.”

Busquets hung up his boots at the end of the MLS season last December and it’s great to see him back at Barcelona.
