The Indiana Fever took on the Atlanta Dream on Sunday in a game that was pivotal for both teams’ places in the standings as the playoffs draw nearer and nearer. Since the pair’s days battling in the NCAA Tournament in college for the Iowa Hawkeyes and LSU Tigers, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy has been an avid supporter of Clark and one of Reese’s largest detractors.

Portnoy found the perfect moment to chime in on the rivalry again on Sunday, when Reese struggled to play to the incredibly high standard she’s set for herself early in the contest. At one point during the first quarter, Reese was left open for a wide-open three and took it. Unfortunately for her and the Dream, she missed it badly, and Portnoy wasted no time getting on her for it.

“They say Angel worked on her 3-point game all offseason and now she’s a threat from 3,” Portnoy said in a video posted to X, along with a clip of the play from the broadcast. “Game starting, Angel Reese, wet!”

Shortly after that, Portnoy mocked Reese again, this time for missing a wide-open transition layup.

Things didn’t stop in the first quarter, either. The Barstool Sports founder also let Reese hear it for missing a point-blank attempt to win the game, allowing Indiana to force overtime, where the Fever eventually won 95-91.

His fans and followers on X piggybacked and mocked Reese as well.

“It’s like watching a live comedy/parody,” one person posted on X.

“How can a ‘professional’ basketball player consistently miss a lay up? And, still walk around with her level of ego?” someone else wondered.

“Looks like she picked up a basketball for the very 1st time,” another fan added.

Reese’s detractors may want to exercise some caution. Although Indiana won the game, Reese still finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Sunday’s game evened the season series between the Dream and Fever at two apiece, and the last thing a player like Reese, who has been an all-star in every season of her WNBA career, needs is bulletin board material ahead of a potential playoff matchup with Indiana.
