Chase Brown sees elite potential in the new Bengals defense

The goal this offseason in Cincinnati was to drastically improve the Bengals’ defense, which has played a major part in this franchise failing to make the playoffs in three straight seasons.

While the early buzz coming out of training camp has been widely positive, how good can this unit really be?

Fourth-year running back Chase Brown recently sat down with Cameron Wolfe and Marc Ross of NFL Network, saying he believes that, after going up against this new and improved unit, they can be a top-10 defense, possibly even top five.

With the additions of Dexter Lawrence II, Jonathan Allen, Bryan Cook, Boye Mafe, and others, this defense certainly has a wealth of talent. Lawrence recently described it as a group of “alphas.”

They always say, to be the best, you have to beat the best. Right now in training camp, as both sides are praising one another, they are battling every down. Offense wins some days, and defense wins some days.

With the expectation of a deep playoff run, we can only hope this defense can be good, maybe even great.
