The Los Angeles Dodgers finally have a win to show for one of the strangest weeks of their season. Los Angeles snapped its seven-game losing streak with a wild 2-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in 10 innings on Saturday, a game that looked all but lost when closer Edwin Diaz nearly blew it once again.
Called on to protect a 1-0 lead in the ninth, Diaz surrendered back-to-back triples to Geraldo Perdomo and Corbin Carroll to open the inning, putting the tying run just 90 feet from home with nobody out.
Díaz somehow escaped the jam. He got Gabriel Moreno to line out to third for the first out, then retired Ketel Marte on a popup to Mookie Betts. After an intentional walk to Lars Nootbaar loaded the corners, Díaz struck out Ildemaro Vargas to send the game to extra innings, avoiding what would have been his second walk-off blown save in as many nights.

The Dodgers broke through in the 10th. Hunter Feduccia drew a two-out walk, then advanced to third when a pitch got away from the catcher. Shohei Ohtani followed with a ground ball to first that trickled out of Tim Tawa’s glove, allowing the go-ahead run to score. Reliever Jack Dreyer closed out the bottom half to seal the win, Los Angeles’ first since July 30.

The victory came a day after Diaz’s most costly blown save of the stretch, a two-run, walk-off home run allowed to Ryan Waldschmidt that extended the losing streak to seven games in the first place. Manager Dave Roberts did not sugarcoat that outcome afterward, saying simply that “a loss is a loss, but to get walked off never feels good.”
Kyle Tucker also factored into Saturday’s win, hitting a solo home run in the eighth inning that briefly gave the Dodgers a cushion before Diaz’s ninth-inning wobble made things interesting all over again. Roki Sasaki had kept the team afloat with another strong start the night before, and the offense continued to search for consistency after averaging under three runs a game during the skid.
With the skid finally behind them, the Dodgers can exhale and turn their attention to Sunday’s series finale in Phoenix. Snapping a seven-game losing streak in this fashion, surviving a blown-save scare to win in extra innings, may not erase the frustration of the past week, but it gives Los Angeles a small foundation to build back on as the club looks to right the ship down the stretch.
