· Yahoo Sports
PITTSBURGH — Not much went right for the Pirates on Friday night. Carmen Mlodzinski struggled in his first start since May, and the offense continued to struggle against left-handed starting pitching.
The end result? A 6-4 loss to the Mets at PNC Park, pushing their losing streak to four games at exactly the wrong time.

Scoring Plays
Top 1st, 1-0 NYM: Carson Benge plated A.J. Ewing from third base with a base hit to center field off Carmen Mlodzinski (6-4).
Top 3rd, 5-0 NYM: The Mets (51-66) opened the floodgates after a rain delay. Benge came through with another RBI single. Francisco Lindor easily stole second base with two outs and scored on Benge’s base hit on the very next pitch. Later in the inning, Marcus Semien hit a three-run home run to left field to blow the game open. Mlodzinski’s 1-2 fastball caught too much of the plate.
Top 4th, 6-0 NYM: Lindor delivered another two-out run-scoring hit for the Mets with an RBI single to center off Evan Sisk.
Bottom 7th, 6-2 NYM: The Pirates (57-60) finally got on the board on a Jared Triolo RBI single to left off Jefry Yan. After Pittsburgh loaded the bases later in the inning, Jake Mangum tacked on a second run with a sacrifice fly to right.
Bottom 9th, 6-3 NYM: Pinch-hitter Jacob Gonzalez banged one high off the Clemente Wall in right field off Devin Williams. He plated Ronny Simon from second, but was thrown out trying to stretch a double. Brandon Lowe brought the Pirates within two with an RBI single to center.
Key Moments
The Pirates were one pitch away from escaping the third inning to stay within striking distance. Instead, Marcus Semien’s home run put the game out of reach.
Bryan Reynolds represented the tying run in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and a runner on first but was robbed of a hit by Mets second baseman Marcus Semien to end the game.
