Thane, August 7, 2026: Seven-year-old Adiraj Mestry from Thane has brought international acclaim to India by securing the second global rank at the prestigious AIMA World Championship – Abacus & Mental Maths Olympiad 2026, held in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.

The global event, held on July 26, featured 228 top-performing students representing 15 countries. Adiraj’s success follows his outstanding performance in February 2026, when he clinched the coveted ‘Super Champion’ title at the national level. His latest triumph on the international stage marks another proud milestone for Thane.
India Ranks Second Globally
The international championship saw fierce competition among participants from 15 nations, including India, Taiwan, the United States, Japan, Russia, South Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Demonstrating strong analytical skills, the Indian contingent bagged a total of 46 medals, securing second place in the overall team rankings. Host nation Taiwan claimed the top position.
Mentorship And Academic Excellence
Adiraj trains at Wonder Kidz Learning Academy under the guidance of head trainer Gauri Daund. He also received mentorship from the academy’s founder Ashutosh Patil, along with trainers Leena Patil and Shruti Patil.
A Class 3 student at New Horizon Scholars School in Thane, Adiraj is the son of Digvijay Mestry, a computer engineer at MSETCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, Energy Department), and Amrita Mestry.
