Haynes King ruled the land on Thursday after leading the Carolina Panthers to a nail-biting win over the Arizona Cardinals, 33-30, in the Hall of Fame Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
King scored the game-winning touchdown with a five-yard rush with two seconds left, treating the fans to a thrilling contest to open the preseason calendar.
The 26-year-old quarterback threw for 21-of-34 for 180 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions, showing everyone that he can produce when given ample opportunities.

After the game, he said he took advantage of what the defense gave him on the last play.
“Dropping back, and it just kind of parted. I was going to try to extend the play because, obviously, it was the last play of the game. Then it just kind of parted. The linebackers started closing space, so I was like, ‘Oh, I can get around him.’ That’s what happened, and I scored the ball,” said King in the video posted by FOX Sports Radio 1340’s Sheena Quick.

King went undrafted in April despite coming off a standout year at Georgia Tech, which saw him win as ACC Player of the Year. Fortunately for him, he got picked up by the Panthers.
He will likely see limited action in the upcoming season, as he is behind Bryce Young and Kenny Pickett in the depth chart. But a good performance in his preseason debut should only boost his confidence and earn the trust of coach Dave Canales.
The Panthers will continue their preseason schedule against the Buffalo Bills on August 15.
