Report: Warriors linked to veteran frontcourt additions amid free agency

The Warriors have two roster spots remaining after re-signing Gary Payton II on a one-year deal. However, Golden State cannot afford more than the minimum, making it likely that the Warriors will add more veterans.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Golden State could be targeting a frontcourt addition with one of their remaining roster spots. Fischer stated that the Warriors have been linked to both Kelly Olynyk and Georges Niang.
Olynyk (35 years old) is a former teammate of Jimmy Butler with the Miami Heat and has averaged 9.8 points, five rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks throughout his career. However, he barely saw that court last season on a loaded San Antonio Spurs roster, making 42 appearances and averaging 8.6 minutes per game.
Niang (33 years old) is a nine-year NBA veteran who missed the entirety of the 2025-26 season due to foot surgery. Throughout his career, he's averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, one assist, 0.3 steals and 0.1 blocks.
Neither of these players will move the needle as much as other veterans available, but they will provide cost-effective depth.
